Members delay board meeting

11 Feb, 2010 11:11 AM
Meeting CANCELLED

The Lightning Ridge Mining Board meeting which was to be held on February 18 has been postponed.

Board members are appointed for a certain time period and this time period has expired.

All proposed board members must be approved by the minister so that they have personal public liability protection.

Industry and Investment NSW has advised they are taking urgent action to rectify the situation.

At a guess the board meeting will probably be held towards the end of March 2010.

LIGHTNING RIDGE AND SURROUNDING OPAL FIELDS MANAGEMENT RESERVE TRUST

Late last year a Crown Reserve was created over the majority of the opal fields surrounding Lightning Ridge and the Glengarry block previously owned by the GGSMA.

The Lightning Ridge area includes Sims Hill and the Permissive Occupancy previously held by the Walgett Shire Council.

The purpose of the Reserve is ‘Opal Mining, Exploration and Public Access’.

The Lightning Ridge and Surrounding Opal Fields Management Reserve Trust will be managed by the Lands Administration Ministerial Corporation but the day to day responsibilities will be administered by a management committee.

COOCORAN PADDOCK CHANGES HANDS

The paddock on ‘Roxburgh’ containing the fields Allahs, Moonshine, Kellies, Norway, Benno’s Bore etc and OPBs 18 A-E has been incorporated into ‘Rexeen’.

Miners need to be aware when pegging mineral claims and taking out OPBs that the landholder they notify has changed to Doug Lehman of Rexeen Pty Ltd.
