This first draft has been circulated to the ballot winners for their comments.

The ballot winners will be meeting at the LRMA office next Wednesday at 2.30pm and any other member who has an interest in prospecting and mining ‘Barfield’ is most welcome to attend.

Once the members are happy with the draft it will be submitted to the department for their consideration.

There are still a few bits and pieces that we need to complete particularly in relation to Aboriginal heritage and this

will be undertaken while the balance of the report is being considered.

It appears the department is a little closer to sorting out the lapsed and cancelled claims on the opal fields.

This hopefully means we can go ahead and rehabilitate some more areas including the four jobs that have been on hold for the past six months.

Rehabilitation works have been held up over the past 12 months while the department has been going through the process of forfeiting bonds so that those money can be applied to claims that have not been rehabilitated satisfactorily by the claimholder.

Any member who wishes to sub-contract to the LRMA for rehabilitation jobs please let the office know, if you have not already done so.

Most jobs can be completed with a truck and loader.
