Good turn out at local youth council AGM
Twenty-two young people attended the Walgett Shire Youth Council AGM on Thursday March 4 2010 at the John Murray Meeting Room at the Lightning Ridge Bowling Club.
Construction on new toilet block to begin soon
At the meeting of the Walgett Shire Council on Tuesday February 23, a tender was awarded to Bowyer Constructions to erect a toilet block on Harlequin Street in Lightning Ridge.

Regional carnival success for students
On March 1 and 2, 23 students from Lightning Ridge Central School travelled to Armidale to compete in the North-West Regional Carnivals. Eighteen of these students were from the primary school, while five students from the high school competed.
Opening day golf goes ahead despite big wet
After much indecision because of the weather last Sunday March 7, the Opening Day went ahead with 14 players, who were very happy that it did. It was a very pleasant day for golf with just a slight mist of rain, but not enough to wet you.
